BroadbandBreakfast.com Presents

National Town Hall Webcast
'Net Neutrality, Copyright Protection and the National Broadband Plan

The national broadband plan under consideration by the Federal Communications Commission promises wide-ranging changes in this country's approach to high-speed communication. Among the most controversial topics is whether copyright issues should be included as part of the plan -- and whether the prospect for inclusion is likely to influence private-sector negotiations between content, telecommunications and technology companies.

Among the topics that will be considered in this two-hour National Town Webcast are:

  • The debate between broadband providers and Internet companies over Net Neutrality, which has recently heated up as Federal Communications Commission Chairman Julius Genachowski has promised new rules regulating the Internet
  • Copyright industries’ concerns on Internet piracy and its drain on their revenue
  • Whether the National Broadband Plan that Genachowski and the FCC is working on - and which might be included in the FCC’s plan that is due by February 17, 2010 - is an opportunity to address the concerns of copyright holders
  • What do the technology and telecommunications industries think of these efforts?

The event is moderated by Drew Clark, Editor and Executive Director of Broadband Census and its news publication BroadbandBreakfast.com. The breakfast begins at 8 a.m. The discussion and webcast will begin at 9 a.m. and end at 11 a.m. Join the conversation for an engaging and in-depth examination of intellectual property - one of the most vital topics of our day.
